ROCKWOOD WEST
SEPTEMBER 2012 NEWSLETTER

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
Welcome back!!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer full of exciting camping adventures.
Rockwood West will be celebrating it's 25th anniversary in June 2013.  It is time for each of you to think about whether you want the chapter to continue.  Everyone must take an active role in hosting an outing or becoming a chapter officer.  This year no one wanted to become an officer and, thankfully, the current officers agreed to remain in office another year.  At this time only two rallies are tentatively scheduled for 2013.  If you need help planning and/or hosting a rally, please contact me.  You can't rely on the same people hosting rallies every year.  Think about how you can help the chapter by running for office next October.  Please take an active role in keeping this chapter going for another 25 years.

MEETING MINUTES:
Sweetwater Summit County Park
September 21, 2012
At 6 p.m. the meeting was called to order by vice president Cookie Ringhand who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Members present:  Dick and Vicki Bartlett, Gerry and Linda Chetelat, Russ and Pat Himmer, Hal and Cookie Ringhand, Walt and Pam Rose, Rich and Linda Strobel and Bill and Sandy Vargo.
A motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting as they appeared in the blog was made by Linda Strobel, seconded by Dick Bartlett.  The motion carried.
The treasurer reported a balance of $2,187.04.  A motion to approve the treasurer's report was made by Pat Himmer, seconded by Rich Strobel.  The motion carried.
There was no director's report.
Nominating committee report:  Gerry Chetelat reported that the current officers have agreed to serve another year because no one else wanted to run.  The election will take place at the November rally.
Old Business:  The rally in Pahrump in October has 11 rigs signed up.  The RV park has many amenities.  Russ reported on the ticket he received in Lone Pine for not wearing his seatbelt.  He wrote a letter to the court pleading his case and the ticket was dismissed.
New Business:  We have new members Steve and Irene DeAmbrogio, friends of Mac and Nita McAfee.  Paulette requested information on whether anyone was planning on attending the Western Area rally in January.  The theme is circus related.  Cost is $190 for general parking with electric and $130 for general parking without electric.  Paulette and Dennis plan to attend and have a table at the chapter fair.  There was no show of interest from those attending this rally.  Pat Himmer announced she has secured a reservation for a November rally at Silent Valley Club in Banning.  It is like Thousand Trails only better.  Scheduled dates are November 9 through 11 for $39 per night.  Rich spoke to Nick recently and Nick requested a show of hands for those interested in a rally in Tombstone, AZ next March.  There were 4 rigs interested.
A motion to adjourn was made by Walt Rose, seconded by Russ Himmer.  The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.

WAGONMASTER'S REPORT:
Everyone arrived on Friday afternoon, September 21, at Sweetwater Summit County Park for the September rally.  Friday evening's "heavy hors d'oveures" was a success, plenty of food and good company.  The meeting was held after everyone finished eating instead of the usual Saturday morning because Cookie had another appointment on Saturday morning.  Even though the weather was very HOT, the evenings cooled down nicely.  Friday evening Walt had a fire and a few members sat around the campfire.  NICE!!!

Saturday morning everyone gathered at the Rose's campsite for hash browns, biscuits and gravy, fruit, muffins, etc.  Yum.

After breakfast, Linda set up a table with crafts to make Halloween wreaths.  For some, it was their first craft session (Pam Rose).
 Pam with her Halloween wreath.
Saturday afternoon members traveled the long distance of about 3 miles to the Baskin Robbins 31 flavors for ice cream cones and sundaes.  What perfect weather for ice cream.
Saturday evening everyone shared their potluck favorites for an enjoyable evening.  Everyone retired early to their rigs because of the heat.
During the rally Walt and Hal worked on the overhead lights in Hal and Cookie's slide.  Walt persisted until he discovered the problem and repaired it.
Where did Linda get the money?  Selling jewelry or collecting dues???
On Sunday morning we gathered again for breakfast before packing and going home or to other fun locations.
Pam Rose, Wagonmaster
