APRIL 2010 NEWSLETTER

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

I know everyone in the chapter wants to thank hosts Bill and Sandy Vargo and their co-hosts Gerry and Linda Chetelat for a great rally at Santee Lakes! We all had a lot of fun and good food.

The chapter is running along beautifully with people already signing up for next year's rallies, a sure sign the chapter is doing great! We voted to celebrate the chapter anniversary at Bakersfield when the chapter will provide steak and dessert, ain't that a hoot!

Just another reminder to sign up early for upcoming rallies to make it easier for the hosts, they appreciate it just as you would if you were hosting.

We have a great year ahead with rallies at many wonderful locations in the planning stages. I know I am looking forward to each and every one of them and seeing each and every one of you at these rallies.

Rich Strobel, chapter president

MINUTES:

Santee Lakes, April 10, 2010

Members in attendance: Gerry & Linda Chetelat, Nick & Ramona Escamilla, Bob & Karenann Evans, Russ & Pat Himmer, Dennis & Paulette Kotan, Jeff & Patty Kuchenski, Hal & Cookie Ringhand, Rich & Linda Strobel, and Bill & Sandy Vargo.

The meeting was called to order by the president Rich Strobel. He led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion to approve the March minutes as printed in the last newsletter was made by Dennis and seconded by Ramona. The motion carried.

The treasurer's report shows a balance of $2,628.35 after a deposit of $46.00. Motion to approve the treasurer's report made by Karenann and seconded by Linda. The motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

Bill Vargo brought up the need for a larger toaster. Breakfast is always delayed because it takes so long for toast to be made. He will research large toasters and get back to the membership with his findings.

Rich informed the membership that the company that used to make the chapter badges no longer makes badges. He has been in touch with Badges-R-Us an FMCA vendor who will get back to him with more information on prices, etc.

OLD BUSINESS:

Bill wanted a clarification on the host making coffee at the rallies. We will keep the chapter coffee pots and the host will make coffee unless we are dry camping and that will be at the discretion of the host.

Some members are still not getting the newsletters by email. Paulette said she will be creating a blog that should make it easier for everyone to access the newsletter. Nick complimented Paulette about the newsletter - everyone agreed! Paulette will not be available to do the October newsletter and asked for someone to volunteer to do that particular newsletter.

Jerry brought up the letter to Sanford and it was decided not to send the already prepared letter unless and until Sanford contacts the president again.

Linda, our craft leader, will instruct anyone interested, how to make his and her bibs. Anyone wanting to participate must bring 2 fat quarters and 2 towels for the project. Portable sewing machines would be appreciated.

Nick said we would be having croquet, bocce ball and ladder golf at Bakersfield with a ladder golf tournament.

An anniversary dinner at the Bakersfield rally was discussed and it was decided the chapter will provide steaks and dessert for the Friday meal. Members will provide salads and sides.

Paulette discussed a non-hosted rally at Death Valley for March 2010. We will be staying at 2 different campgrounds within the national park. At the present time the dates are March 2 through the 9th. More information will be provided as we get closer to the date set.

Patty requested more information and dates for Octoberfest in Hemet. If anyone wants more info they should contact Wendy.

Motion to adjourn by Hal, seconded by Bill. The motion carried.

WAGONMASTER'S REPORT:

At Santee Lakes we had 8 member coaches plus 2 guests, the Beach family (daughter and son-in-law) guests of the Himmers and Vargos had the Gill family (daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters). The Kotans were there for the meeting and the Roses stopped by to spend some time with the group.

Friday evening had lots of "Happy Hour" food. Saturday breakfast was enjoyed by all, followed by the meeting. In the afternoon we had time to play ladder golf. The Saturday evening meal was another fabulous potluck with lots of yummy salads, sides and desserts. After dinner we enjoyed the fire with wood supplied by Bryan Beach. We enjoyed each others company until after 10 p.m.

Fresh donuts from a local Santee shop sure tasted good for our Sunday morning breakfast.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the Bakersfield rally.

Sandy and Bill Vargo, wagonmasters
